Product Feature: Product Range
Here at PRO:VOKE, we’re the experts in blonde hair. But did you know our Touch Of Silver products are also ideal for brunettes?
The secret’s out! Our purple shampoos aren’t just for blondes. Get the lowdown on using our Touch Of Silver products to make your brunette look amazing too.
What effect will purple shampoo have on brown hair?
Purple shampoo on brunette hair with highlights, or coloured hair, can be a very effective toner.
How? Well, over time, lightened sections of brunette hair can turn brassy and the colour fades. This can occur especially in balayage or ombre hair, or if the hair has been dyed multiple times before. The hair can often become dry and damaged and reveal the underlying pigments which are warmer and more yellow/orange in hue. Of course, some people will like this tone, however, if you don’t, purple shampoo on brunette hair can be your saviour to take out any unwanted warm tones in your hair.
The way it works is all down to the science of the colour wheel. As purple is opposite to yellow, this counteracts the brassiness and neutralises it to maintain your colour’s radiance for longer. It helps to prevent that dreaded colour fade, whilst emphasising the shine and vibrance of surrounding darker hairs. You can better understand how purple shampoo works and the science behind the unique violet pigment here.
How to use purple shampoo on brown hair
Our Touch of Silver Brightening Shampoo should be applied to wet hair and massaged in before leaving on for five minutes. Brunettes should use our brightening shampoo specifically on the lightened sections of hair. For many, this will mean applying silver shampoo directly to the lower lengths of hair, targeting the brassy sections.
After five minutes has passed, rinse with cool water to ensure cuticles are closed and locks in the product.
Next, smooth over a generous amount of the Touch Of Silver Intensive Conditioner – ideal for use after the Brightening Shampoo to regain hair health and balance. Leaving this on your hair for 3 to 10 minutes will nourish hair and intensively target dry and damaged strands. It has a rich and luxurious formula which improves your hairs condition after just one use.
Again, rinse hair thoroughly, then towel dry and gently detangle.
For added shine, heat protection, and deeper nourishment, use our Touch Of Silver Leave-in Conditioner before drying. Simply spray onto wet or towel dried hair. The pro-vitamin B5 formula will help to make your hair smoother and more manageable after just one wash.

HOW TO REMOVE CHLORINE FROM HAIR AND PROTECT YOUR SHINE
Whilst we appreciate the bacteria busting effects of chlorine in a swimming pool, the one thing we don’t enjoy is how chlorine affects our hair. Chlorine is a very powerful drying agent, which can cause all hair types to dry out, leading to a loss of shine, breakage, and split ends.
For those with highlights, blonde, white, grey, or silver hair it can also cause another medusa-like side effect; green hair.
We’ve all seen the horror stories and tried some interesting DIY hacks to avoid the dreaded green hair (we’ll never look at tomato ketchup the same way!). But don’t worry, PRO:VOKE are here to help save your hair from the ghastly green!
How to remove chlorine from hair
To remove chlorine from your hair, you need a deep cleansing shampoo.
The Touch Of Silver Clarifying Treatment Shampoo is your saviour from chlorinated hair. It works to neutralise chlorine straight away and will help to banish this chemical from the hair if left on for up to ten minutes. With hydrating AquaPlex™ and salicylic acid, it also nourishes your hair and scalp for a truly pampering experience.
If you’re treating your hair in the summer, follow the clarifying treatment with our Toning Treatment Mask as oxidation from the sun can cause hair to turn brassy. The salon-strength violet pigment in our Toning Treatment Mask will neutralise any yellow tones.
How to protect hair from chlorine damage
To protect hair from chlorine damage during the day, you could also try these 3 top tips:
1 – Soak your hair in the shower before taking a dip in the pool
2 – Coat your hair with a nourishing conditioner:
- For those with thick hair, try the Touch Of Silver Intensive Conditioner
- For those with fine hair, try the Touch Of Silver Leave-In Conditioner
3 – After each swim, rinse your hair in the shower and reapply conditioner to keep your hair protected from sunshine and chlorine.

GOING GREY GRACEFULLY: HOW TO GET GLOSSY GREY HAIR
The day of grey comes for us all; from those first greys making an appearance, through to a full head of silver, we all get there eventually. For some, embracing the grey is a welcome part of life, and dying your hair silver-blonde is even a common trend these days. For others, grey hair can mean the decline of hair strength and the unwelcome arrival of wiry, limp hair.
Here’s how you can get the best out of your grey with our pro tips.
- Don’t abandon the hairdresser
Grey hair doesn’t have to signal the end of hairstyle maintenance. Whether you’ve got a salt and pepper look going on or deliberate silver-blonde hair, freshly cut locks are happy locks. There’s nothing quite like a head massage and perfect trim to keep your hairstyle razor sharp and split ends at bay.
- Mix up your wardrobe colour scheme
You’ve probably heard a friend or family member gush about how a mustard/red/navy dress suits your complexion perfectly, but did you know that certain colours can also complement your hair colour?
It’s true! Monochrome stripes, navy and accent colours will all look great, while white is a big no-no.
While we’re on the topic of style, beauty experts recommend investing in a good make-up blusher too. The idea that grey hair can wash your skin out is less convincing when you add a peach or rose-coloured tint to the apples of your cheeks.
- Hydrate your hair
One of the main reasons that grey hair can become wiry, unruly, and generally damaged is due to dying and bleaching. If you’re using hair dye of any kind, then this needs to go hand in hand with haircare.
Pick up a bottle of our PRO:VOKE Touch Of Silver Brightening Shampoo for grey hair and team it with our PRO:VOKE Touch Of Silver Intensive Conditioner for the best results. The anti-aging properties in the conditioner target your dry and damaged hair leaving it looking smooth and healthy. For dazzling shine and 24 hour hold, we’d also recommend using our PRO:VOKE Touch Of Silver Firm Hold Hairspray.
