What is Clarifying Shampoo?

Clarifying shampoos are deep cleansing treatments for your hair that prevent product build-up and remove hard water minerals, excess oil, and pollutants. Using the shampoo regularly in between washes can allow your hair to appear healthy and shiny, removing any unwanted build up.

Clarifying shampoos should be used before colouring your hair so that the colour can successfully penetrate the hair shaft, and before using a hair mask, so the nourishing ingredients have optimum effect. It’s best not to use one too soon after a colour treatment though, as it may cause the colour to fade quicker.

They’re also extremely effective at removing chlorine from hair, making them the perfect hair product for swimmers who want to keep their colour bright.

Due to their deep cleansing, detoxing properties, clarifying shampoos can be rather drying, so we would always recommend teaming them with the use of a conditioner.

How to use PRO:VOKE’s Touch of Silver Clarifying Treatment Shampoo

Our clarifying shampoo is perfect for natural or dyed white, platinum, blonde, and grey hair. Use once or twice a week between uses of your normal shampoo and conditioner – we’d recommend using our Touch of Silver Colour Care Shampoo and Conditioner. Or, if you’re after a more silvery tint – use in every wash to build up the purple pigment.

Make sure to massage in and leave the Clarifying Treatment Shampoo on for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm (not hot) water to wash away all impurities.

What to do after clarifying your hair

For optimum results, we recommend following up a clarifying shampoo with a conditioning treatment. This locks in moisture for a healthy shine. Our Toning Treatment Mask is ideal as it instantly banishes brassy tones whilst deeply nourishing the hair so it’s visibly brighter in just one wash.
